Trainees

Matching its wide-ranging service portfolio, Hamburg Süd offers a large number of interesting training opportunities that take account of very varied areas of focus. You can, then, choose between the following courses:

Our aim is to offer talented young people distinguished by commitment and strong practical performance fixed employment with attractive development perspectives. In each of these courses, therefore, we follow the principle of qualified training characterised by three features:

1. Gentle integration into the company:

In a relaxed atmosphere on the first day of training, you have the opportunity to get to know your new trainee colleagues, as well as the mentors from the various departments within our company. In the following weeks you will then be introduced to the subject matter of your first department, with your individual abilities and previous experience setting the pace of integration.

2. Individual and continuous mentoring:

In each department you pass through in the course of your training, you have a trained mentor ready to listen to your questions and problems, as well as your suggestions and ideas. In addition, there is a central point of contact in the Initial and Further Training Department available to help you when it comes to interdepartmental matters.

3. Constantly fostering and challenging:

Throughout the training period we foster our young talent through special trainee seminars and language tuition. Studies going beyond the scope of the vocational school demand commitment from our trainees and are simultaneously a challenge. In the weekly English course you will meet all your trainee colleagues, giving you the chance to compare notes on your experiences, successes and problems. Additionally, there is language tuition in Spanish and Portuguese that you can attend on a voluntary basis.

Above and beyond this, we offer our trainees the possibility of further qualification at the academic level as Bachelor of Shipping, Trade and Transport (BSc) within the framework of a work-study scheme.

Trainees with general certificates of secondary education or with a report bearing the notation “Transfer to 6th form/senior high school” have the possibility of attaining the advanced level technical college entrance qualification in parallel with vocational training (DualPlus FHR).

Regardless of the training course you take, you receive monthly remuneration based on the tariff for shipping specialists of Hamburger Rheder e.V. This comes to €630 in the first year of training, €730 in the second year and €830 in the third (gross/per month). In addition, you receive an allowance for meals in our company restaurant, an HVV ProfiCard (a season ticket for the Hamburg public transport system) and a thirteenth month’s salary.
